Chupa Chupi is a 2026 Indian Assamese-language comedy drama mystery film written and directed by Pranab Bharali. It serves as a feature-length theatrical sequel to Bharali's popular 2024 web series of the same name. Production
[edit]Shooting took place at various locations in Assam, such as Pathsala and around Guwahati. The muhurat ceremony was held at Jyoti Chitraban studio, with cinematography by Chandra Kumar Das.[3]
Development
[edit]Building on the success of the original web series, the project was developed into a full theatrical feature. It was positioned for release on 12 June 2026.[4][5]

Release
[edit]Chupa Chupi hit theatres across Assam on 12 June 2026.[1][7]
Reception
[edit]The trailer generated considerable excitement for its promising tone and ties to the web series.[8][9] Early audience feedback included reports of houseful shows in several venues soon after release.[7][10] Critical opinions have been mixed. While The Story Mug highlighted strong performances (especially by Arun Nath and Jintu Kumar Kashyap) and technical strengths, it critiqued the pacing, screenplay, and overall narrative cohesion, awarding a 2/5 rating.[2]
