In a modern twist on the book, Wonka (Waititi) returns to the factory after being under arrest for turning a child into a blueberry during the Golden Ticket contest, as Charlie Paley (Connor) plans a heist to steal the priceless chocolate bar from the candy maker with a new generation of kids.

Kit Connor also joins the cast as this film's version of Charlie, setting in the Morden age.[2]

The film's animation will be provided by Sony Pictures Imageworks.[2]
