ChargeSini (legally ChargeHere EV Solution Sdn Bhd) is a Malaysian eletric vehicle (EV) charging point operator (CPO) founded in Octorber 2022.[1] The company desings, installs, and operates EV Charging stations across Malaysia, with expansion into Singapore and Indonesia, and offers a mobile app for locating, reserving, and paying for charging sessions.[1][2]
History
[edit]ChargeSini began operations in July 2022 and was formally established in October 2022 by James Goh, the company's founder and chief executive, and Nick Leong, a co-founder. The company has experience in engineering and e-commerce, and at first it collaborated with a local company called Sangitech to provide charging hardware.[1][3] The company's early operations were centred on a showroom in Pandan Indah, Kuala Lumpur.[1]
ChargeSini had 582 active charging stations by December 2023, which was the second-highest plug count among Malaysian CPOs at the time.[4] Following an earlier equity crowdfunding effort that garnered RM5.6 million, the firm announced earlt in 2024 that it was raising a Series A funding round with an aim of roughly US$6 million at valuation of about US$120 million. According to reports published in the "New Straits Times" and "BusinessToday" in April 2024, ChargeSini had installed more then 700 charging ports in just 18 months since its establishment, making it the top CPO in Malaysia and the fastest-growing in Southeast Asia. The articles also mentioned the company's interest in receiving government support through Malaysia's National Fund-of-Funds.[6][7]
By the second quarter of 2024, ChargeSini has over 750 charging stations across the country, distributed fairly evenly across commercial buildings, condominiums, shopping centers, and supermarkets, with a further 300 locations planned.[2] During this time, the company also signed contracts with Sunway Group and Huawei Malaysia to expand charging infrastructure at Sunway properties, with Charge+ to create a combined Malaysia–Singapore charging network, and with KTC Arkz Group to install charging bays at Seri Iskandar Heights. The Sunway–Huawei agreement was formalized as a tripartite memorandum of understanding at the Malaysia Autoshow 2024, whereby ChargeSini would purchase, install, and run charging stations at Sunway's developments, while Huawei would provide after-sales support and technology advice.[2][3]
The ChargeSini joint venture with Meta Bright Group is organized through Meta Bright Chargesini Sdn Bhd (MBC), a subsidiary that Meta Bright Group Bhd, a publicly traded company, owns 51% of. "The Star" reported in April 2026 that MBC had obtained banking facilities from AmBank (M) Bhd totaling up to RM8.5 million to finance the next stage of its EV charging infrastructure expansion. The primary RM8 million facility was designated to partially finance the acquisition, installation, and commissioning of new charging ports; by that time, MBC had commissioned 25 charging stations totaling 82 charging points.[8]
ChargeSini's charging stations and those of three other charge point operators were incorporated into the Hello Smart app's charging map in June 2024 by Proton New Energy Technology (Pro-Net), Proton's EV division and distributor of Smart cars in Malaysia.[9]
Operations
[edit]As of late 2023, the company priced AC charging from RM1.09 per kWh and DC charging from RM1.19 per kWh.[4] The ChargeSini app showed live charging rates and station locations. By September 2026, the company had 1,250 charging stations across the country, 402 of which were DC units. The cost of DC charging was RM1.19 per kWh for chargers rated 40 kW and below, and RM1.29 per kWh for 60–80 kW units. Subscription plans offered discounts of up to 20% on charging fees.[10][11]
