Comment: Topic not notable. Further you have used an LLM to assist your draft three different times even after being clearly instructed not to. We will not consider this draft further. Sulfurboy (talk) 02:15, 14 August 2026 (UTC)
Comment: Please rewrite from scratch without the use of LLMs. Corporate blogs are not reliable sources. Helpful Raccoon (talk) 23:23, 3 June 2026 (UTC)

chDB is an open-source embedded ClickHouse for online analytical processing (OLAP). It compiles the ClickHouse engine within a cross-platform library and provides language bindings for C/C++, Python, Go, Node, Rust.[1] It allows applications to run ClickHouse query directly within the process, without requiring a separate database server. [2][3]
History
[edit]chDB was created by Auxten Wang and the Python version was first released in 2023 followed by support for multiple programming languages. It was acquired by ClickHouse, Inc in March 2024 and introduced WebAssembly (Wasm) support in July 2026.[4][3]
Design
[edit]The design principle of chDB is to reduce data copying between application memory and ClickHouse engine. Queries can operate directly on objects already in memory, such as a pandas DataFrame in a Jupyter notebook, and return the results into the same session.[2]
chDB uses the same SQL dialect as ClickHouse and can read more than 70 data formats, like Parquet, CSV and JSON. [5][6][7]. It also supports federated queries that combine in-memory data and remote data sources without first loading them into a database server.[7] Since chDB v4, the Python API has supported a pandas-compatible DataStore, allowing it to work directly with dataframes.[8]
As an embedded OLAP database, chDB is often compared with DuckDB for local analytics.[9][10] It is particularly suitable for developers already working with ClickHouse, especially when a workload relies on ClickHouse-specific SQL features such as array functions or when a ClickHouse-based project needs a light-weight environment for testing.[9][10]
