Cecelia (Band) is an American hard rock and glam metal band featuring singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Cecelia Casso. The band performs original music influenced by the sound and style of 1980s hair metal and hard rock. Originally based in Denver, Colorado, the band is now based in Las Vegas, Nevada.[1]
History
[edit]Cecelia Casso began developing her musical career in Denver Colorado and began playing guitar in 2013. She began performing live in the Denver area in 2016. Her musical interests center on rock music of the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, with a particular focus on hair metal and hard rock.
Cecelia (Band) developed as a vehicle for Casso’s original music and live performances. The band’s repertoire and recordings combine original material with the musical style and aesthetic associated with 1980s hair metal and hard rock. The Denver Post has described the Denver-based band as combining hard-rock covers with original songs in the style of 1980s hair metal.[2]
Cecelia (Band) has performed the most throughout Colorado during 2021-2025, including appearances at Lost Lake in Denver[3], the Rickhouse in Denver[4], and Moe’s Original BBQ in Englewood.[5] The biggest show Cecelia (Band) has performed so far was July 18, 2025 at the Whisky a Go Go in West Hollywood, California, as part of a bill headlined by L.A. Guns.[6]
In July 2026, Casso relocated from Denver to Las Vegas, where she continued developing Cecelia (Band), writing original music and recording the band’s second release.[7]
Musical style and influences
[edit]Cecelia (Band)’s music is rooted in 1980s hair metal and hard rock. Casso has cited bands including Stryper, Bon Jovi, Kiss, Def Leppard, Van Halen, Whitesnake, Journey, Europe, Y&T, Mötley Crüe, Dokken and Steelheart among her influences. She has also cited 1960s and 1970s rock artists including the Beatles, the Eagles and Queen as influences and the modern bands My Chemical Romance, the Struts and Pierce The Veil.[8]
The band’s original material is characterized by its deliberate use of the musical style associated with 1980s hair metal. Casso told the Denver Post that she writes music to emulate the genre because of her longstanding affinity for it.[2]
