Camtek became public in July 2000[2] raising US$39.2 Million in its Nasdaq initial public offering, and gradually expanded its business into semiconductor inspection and metrology equipment, developing equipment used in semiconductor manufacturing processes designed to improve manufacturing yield and process control. Camtek shares began trading in the TASE on December 2005.[3] Camtek's systems inspect semiconductor wafers and measure integrated circuits (IC) features during various stages of semiconductor manufacturing.[4]
In July 2017, Camtek sold its PCB business for US$35 Million to a Chinese private-equity fund,[5] further focusing its business on semiconductors.
During 2023, Camtek acquired the German metrology company FRT GmbH, expanding its capabilities in three-dimensional surface measurement and metrology technologies.[6]
