CINITY is a Chinese premium large film format company. The company was previously known as DMAX, with the name also referring to the film technology. It has been described as a competitor to IMAX Corporation and its IMAX film format.[2] The company is owned by China Film Group Corporation.
History
[edit]CINITY is a high-end film projection system jointly launched by China Film Co., Ltd. and Huaxia Film Distribution, a subsidiary of China Film Group, integrating high-tech in seven major film projection fields: 4K, 3D, high brightness, high frame rate, high dynamic range, wide color gamut, and immersive sound.[3]China Film Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd. cooperated with Deluxe, a famous American film production company, to establish the CINITY Plate Making Center in Los Angeles, USA.[4]
In 2021, China Film Co., Ltd. acquired part of the equity of Huaxia Film Beijing (Co., Ltd.), a CINITY-related company, with its own funds, and after the acquisition, China Film Co., Ltd. accounted for 80% of the equity of Huaxia Film Beijing (Co., Ltd.), and Huaxia Film Distribution Company accounted for 20% of the equity of Huaxia Film Beijing (Co., Ltd.).<[5] As of the end of the first quarter of 2021, 58 films were released using the CINITY version, including My Motherland and Me, Detective Chinatown 3, King Kong River, Gemini Man, and many more.[6] As of the third quarter of 2022, 71 CINITY theaters have been operated in Chinese mainland.[7]
Huaxia Film Beijing (Co., Ltd.) also launched CINITY LED curved movie screen. At present, CINITY LED curved movie screen is available in three models: 14 meters, 16 meters, and 20 meters.[8] The first CINITY LED curved movie screen in Chinese mainland was put into use at the Xinming Cinema in Chengdu, Sichuan.[9]
