The CFMOTO 800MT is a line of adventure touring motorcycles produced by CFMOTO. Developed as part of a joint venture with KTM, the motorcycle uses the KTM LC8c engine platform and serves as the flagship adventure model in CFMOTO's lineup, succeeding the smaller 650MT.
History
[edit]The 800MT was officially unveiled in 2021. It marked a significant milestone in the deepening partnership between CFMOTO and KTM, being the first CFMOTO motorcycle to fully utilize KTM's 799 cc parallel-twin engine originally developed for the KTM 790 Adventure.[1] The model was introduced to compete globally in the highly competitive middleweight adventure touring segment, blending European engineering foundations with Chinese manufacturing.
Versions
[edit]The 800MT is available in several variations tailored for different types of riding and technology preferences:
- 800MT Sport: The base model designed primarily for road use. It features cast alloy wheels (19-inch front, 17-inch rear), standard KYB suspension, riding modes (Sport and Rain), cornering ABS, and cruise control.
- 800MT Touring: An upgraded version geared towards long-distance travel and light off-road use. It replaces the cast wheels with tubeless wire-spoked wheels and adds a bi-directional quickshifter, a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), a steering damper, handguards, heated grips, a heated seat, and standard crash bars.
- 800MT Explore: Introduced as the premium flagship edition, the Explore builds upon the Touring model's features. It upgrades the electronics package with an 8-inch MMI touchscreen display featuring Apple CarPlay, a rear-facing radar system for blind-spot detection (BSD) and lane change assist, upgraded Michelin Anakee tires, and a revised traction control system featuring additional off-road riding modes.
Police use
[edit]Following the success of the earlier CFMOTO 650 models (such as the 650TR-G and CF650-2) in law enforcement, CFMOTO continued its relationship with state authorities by developing police variants based on the newer 800cc platform (often designated as the CF800J series).
Much like its predecessor, which was highly recommended by the Police Equipment Procurement Center of the Ministry of Public Security, the 800cc variants offer upgraded power, superior electronics, and better high-speed stability for People's Police traffic units and escort duties. The larger 799cc engine allows the newer police models to comfortably sustain high-speed pursuit and patrol operations while carrying heavy law enforcement equipment.
