Blue Music Group is an independent label in Stockholm, Sweden. It was founded in 2008 by Finnish pianist and composer Mika Pohjola. The label releases jazz and contemporary classical music and has issued albums by artists like Rashied Ali, Terry Clarke, Johanna Grüssner and Eeppi Ursin.[1]

History

[edit]

Blue Music Group was founded in the United States in 2008 and later relocated to Stockholm following Pohjola's move to Sweden in 2012.[1]

According to a 2010 profile in All About Jazz, the label emphasized digital distribution and downloadable album formats at an early stage.[1] All About Jazz noted Blue Music Group's early attempts on individual projects rather than maintaining an exclusive roster of famous names.[1]

Releases

[edit]

The label has released recordings by artists including Rashied Ali, Terry Clarke, Chris Cheek, Ben Monder, Fernando Huergo, Johanna Grüssner, Eeppi Ursin and Pohjola. Several Blue Music Group releases have subsequently been reviewed by All About Jazz.[2] [3]
