Benard Awuko is a Ugandan information technology professional who has worked in the telecommunications industry, higher education, and practiced software development. Benard has written articles on issues about education, technology, productivity, and public policy. He contested as a Member of Parliament for Oyam South County, Oyam District in the 2021 and 2026 general elections on independent ticket and lost.[1][2][3][4][5]
Education
[edit]Benard was educated at Almond College, Lira, (O-Level) and Lango College (A-Level) before obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunications from Kampala International University in 2024. He is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Information Technology at Kampala International University.
Career
[edit]Benard has worked in Uganda's telecommunications and higher education sectors. Benard has taught Electrical and Telecommunications Engineering courses at Kampala International University while working as a Teaching Assistant from 2015 to 2022.[6] Benard also supervised engineering students' final-year projects during his teaching career at Kampala International University.[7] He is currently teaching at Uganda Martyrs University in the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences.[8] In addition, he practices ICT consultancy, and software development.[9]Benard is also the CEO and founder of BenSites Uganda Limited, an ICT consultancy company in Uganda.
Published Commentary
[edit]Benard has contributed opinion articles to the Daily Monitor newspaper of Uganda on education and teacher welfare. In one article, he argued for equal treatment of arts and science teachers, while in another he emphasized the relationship between academic achievement and practical productivity.[10][11]
