[edit]The Belief–Behavior Systems Archetype (BBSA) is an interdisciplinary conceptual framework proposed by physician and public health researcher Mihal Emberton that presents a theory of supervisory cognition intended to explain how supervisory belief–behavior systems arise across human hierarchies. Frameworks including Theory X and Theory Y, servant leadership, growth mindset, psychological safety, Lean leadership, Agile management, cultural humility, and restorative justice address different aspects of supervisory behavior and organizational function.
The development of the Belief–Behavior Systems Archetype began from a related but more fundamental problem concerning learning within hierarchical systems. Human hierarchies can expand collective problem-solving capacity by distributing expertise, responsibility, authority, and other resources among different participants.[1] This distribution, however, can separate the knowledge needed to recognize and understand a problem from the organizational resources needed to investigate or act upon it.
