The Azerbaijan Alligators are an Australian association football club based in Broulee, New South Wales. The club was established in 2024 by Carroll College students Logan Hall, Blade Hall and Murray Lyons and initially competed in the Under-15 division of the Eurobodalla Football Association (EFA) Summer Soccer League.[1]
The Alligators moved into the EFA Men's Summer Soccer League for the 2025/26 season, transitioning from youth football to All Age men's competition. The club plays its matches at Gundary Oval in Moruya, although the venue is not considered the club's official home ground.
The Alligators' colours are green, blue and red, based on the colours of the Azerbaijan national flag. The club's crest features an alligator alongside the Azerbaijani flag.[2]
History
[edit]Formation and first season
[edit]The Azerbaijan Alligators were formed in 2024 by Carroll College students from Broulee. The club's name originated from a mock Olympics activity conducted during physical education classes at Carroll College, in which the group selected Azerbaijan as the country they would represent. The name "Alligators" was subsequently chosen because it also began with the letter A.[3]
The club was primarily founded by Logan Hall, Blade Hall and Murray Lyons, with the original team entering the 2024/25 Eurobodalla Football Association Under-15's Summer Soccer League.[4]
Despite being a newly established side, the Alligators enjoyed an outstanding debut campaign. The club finished the season in second place, establishing itself as one of the strongest teams in the competition. The club describes the season as the campaign that established the Alligators as a competitive force.[4]
The team's first recorded victory came against the Pink Panthers in round two, with the Alligators winning 7–1. Logan Hall scored a hat-trick, while Noah Maher scored twice and Blade Hall and Brody Kemp scored once each.
The club's largest victory of the season was a 9–1 win over the Pink Panthers, while another notable result was a 7–2 victory against the Dynamites.
Snotrockets rivalry
[edit]One of the defining matches of the Alligators' inaugural season came against the previously undefeated Snotrockets.
The Alligators won the match 2–0, ending the Snotrockets' unbeaten run. The result became regarded within the club as one of the most significant victories in its early history. The club's official website describes the match as a defining moment that demonstrated the team's ability to compete against the strongest opposition.
The Snotrockets subsequently became one of the Alligators' principal rivals during their first season.
The Alligators ultimately finished the 2024/25 season in second place.[1]
Move to men's football
[edit]At the beginning of the 2025/26 season, the Azerbaijan Alligators gained promotion into the Eurobodalla Football Association Men's Summer Soccer League.
The transition represented a major change for the club, with the Alligators moving directly from Under-15 football into All Age men's competition.
The club initially struggled against more experienced opposition, suffering 11 consecutive defeats before recording its first men's division victory.
That breakthrough came against Moruya International. With no substitutes available, the Alligators secured a dramatic 3–2 victory. Logan Hall scored twice, while Oscar Bates scored the decisive goal late in the match. The result was subsequently described by the club as one of the defining moments in its history.[5]
2025/26 season
[edit]The 2025/26 season saw several changes to the playing squad. Goalkeeper Oliver Maher and midfielder Nicholas Johnson Pepper departed following the previous season. They were replaced by Leo Halliday and Mitchell Love.
The club's principal rivalry during the season became Boyz to Men.
The Alligators eventually recorded one of the most important results of their men's football history when they defeated Boyz to Men 2–1 in the Summer Soccer finals, securing the club's first recorded Summer Soccer finals victory.[1]
The season also included some of the club's heaviest defeats, including a 10–1 loss to the Yaragee Yabbies and a 6–1 loss to the Unstoppaballs. [5]
Identity
[edit]Name
[edit]The name "Azerbaijan Alligators" originated from a mock Olympics activity at Carroll College.

Colours and crest
[edit]The club's official colours are green, blue and red, reflecting the colours of the Azerbaijani flag.[2]
The club's basic crest incorporates an alligator and the Azerbaijani flag. The club's playing kit similarly draws heavily from Azerbaijan's national identity, featuring blue, red and green elements as well as the country's crescent and star.
The club states that the colours of its jersey are intended to reflect elements associated with Azerbaijan, with blue representing Turkic heritage, red representing progress and modernisation, and green representing Islam.
Rivalries
[edit]Boyz to Men
[edit]Boyz to Men are regarded as the Alligators' principal rivals during the club's men's football era. The rivalry developed during the 2025/26 season.
The rivalry reached a significant point in the Summer Soccer finals, when the Alligators defeated Boyz to Men 1-0 in the regular season, and 2–1 in the finals to claim a first ever finals victory.[1]
Snotrockets
[edit]The Alligators' first major rivalry developed with the Snotrockets during the 2024/25 Under-15 season.
