Aybuke Han (born 3 July 2005) is a Turkish short track speed skater and university student from Erzurum, Türkiye. She began competing in short track speed skating at an early age and represented Türkiye at both national and international level before a serious spinal injury brought her competitive career to an end. She is registered as an official athlete by the International Skating Union (ISU) and the Turkish National Olympic Committee (TMOK) [1][2]. Academic Life
[edit]Following the end of her athletic career due to injury, Han enrolled at Maltepe University in Istanbul, a private foundation university, on a national athlete scholarship awarded in recognition of her years of service as a member of the Turkish national short track speed skating team. She studies in the Department of Special Education Teaching within the Faculty of Education — a field closely aligned with her experience as an athlete and her commitment to inclusive sport and physical activity [13].
During her studies, Han led a university research and community engagement project titled "Engelsiz Hareket: Engelli Bireyler İçin Temel Motorik Harekât Gelişimi ve Aktif Yaşam Projesi". The project aimed to support the development of fundamental motor skills in individuals with special needs and to promote their active participation in everyday life, contributing to broader awareness of inclusive living practices.
This project, received the EDEV Award, presented within the scope of the Prof. Dr. Yahya Özsoy Community Services Award — an honour jointly awarded by the Turkish Community Services Foundation and the Education Support Foundation. The award is given to projects that make a meaningful contribution in the fields of accessibility and social inclusion[14]
