Avicen Group is an Omani healthcare company. It operates pharmacies and polyclinics in Oman and distributes pharmaceutical products, equipment and related consumables.[1]
History and operations
[edit]Avicen began operating in 2009 as a single pharmacy outlet.[2] It subsequently expanded its operations to include pharmacies and polyclinics in Oman.[1]
In October 2025, Avicen launched an e-commerce application for wellness and healthcare products. The application included skincare, baby-care, personal-care, nutritional drinks, supplements, vitamins and over-the-counter products.[3]
Avenzo Pharma
[edit]In September 2024, Avicen Group announced a planned RO20 million investment in a generic-medicine manufacturing facility at Khazaen Economic City, in the South Al Batinah Governorate.[1] The project was announced through Avenzo Pharma, the group’s pharmaceutical manufacturing venture.[1]
The planned facility was to be developed on a 20,000-square-metre site. Oman’s Minister of Health, Hilal bin Ali al-Sabti, attended the signing of the lease agreement for the site.[1]
Awards
[edit]In 2025, Avicen Pharmacy received the Oman's Most Trusted Brand Award in the pharmaceuticals category.[4]
In 2026, Nissar Edathum Chalil received the Excellence in Pharmaceutical Industry award at the fifth MediaOne Business Awards.[5]
