Andrei Protsouk (born November 26, 1961) is Ukrainian painter with international acclaim. His painting are known for their vibrant colors and dramatic geometric forms and have showcased all across the globe, including in Europe, the Middle East, Russia, and the United States, where he currently resides. His work can be found in many corporate and private collections including that of Coca-Cola and George W. Bush.[1]
Early Life and Education
[edit]Andrei Protsouk was born in Dnipro Ukraine on November 26, 1961 to his parents Alexander and Anna Protsouk.[2] His father was a photographer and his mother was a master embroiderer.[3] Andrei demonstrated a great gift for art at a young age and was enrolled in the Grekov Odesa Art School and the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Art.[1] Later Andrei attended the Lugansk School of Fine Art, followed by a Masters at the Ilya Repin Leningrad Institute in Soviet Russia. At the institute, Protsouk studied under Evsey Moiseenko.[4] He graduated in 1989 having earned the "Lenin's Student Stipend" as well as the "Red Diploma", after which he enrolled in the Institutes Ph.D. Program. Protsouk's work continued to attract attention, often being confiscated to be put on display in the school's museum.[2]
In 1992, shortly after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, while still enrolled in his Ph.D. program, Protsouk visited the United States in search of opportunities. Later, in 1994 and just two months before his Ph.D. examinations, Proutsouk would abandon his degree and move with his family to the United States, where they settled in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.[2]
Art Career
[edit]Protsouk's work has been showcased across the globe in galleries, solo exhibitions, and art museums. These include galleries in Manhattan, Los Angeles, Cleveland, the Javits Center, and notable tours throughout the United Kingdom.[5] His work has been collected by a wide variety of corporate and private clients, including Coca Cola, Johnnie Walker, Francis Lang, and George W. Bush.[2]
