Andrea Tempestini (30 June 1986 – 28 September 2026) was an Italian journalist who served as the deputy director and digital editor of the Italian daily newspaper Libero. He joined the paper in 2010 and was later responsible for managing its online website until his death.
Early life and education
[edit]Tempestini was born in 1986.[1] He studied Communication Humanities at the University of Milan and later attended journalism school in Urbino.[2]
Career
[edit]Earlier in his career, he worked in production for Rai Corporation in New York City and collaborated with the financial newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore.[3]
In 2010, Tempestini joined Libero, where he went from intern editor to eventually becoming managing editor within the digital division.[4] He then became digital editor - and then deputy director in 2025[5] - of the newspaper's overall site, liberoquotidiano.it.[1]
Tempestini was responsible for managing the digital newsroom’s relations with political parties, businesses, and government organizations. He also tracked overall website traffic, monitored the newsrooms online image, and helped coordinate its social media accounts.[6] Alongside his editorial work, he wrote a regular culinary column for the newspaper.[4]
Personal life and death
[edit]Tempestini lived in the Maciachini neighborhood of Milan. He was married to Ambra Tempestini and had two children, Ottavia and Marcello.[7]
He died on 28 September 2026. After his family (specifically sister[8]) reported that they had been unable to contact him for two days, emergency services were called to his apartment building on Via Belinzaghi in Milan, where firefighters and Carabinieri officers found his body in a basement cellar.[3] Investigators examined the circumstances of his death and found a handwritten note, confirming his death to be a suicide.[8]
