Aircon is an American air cargo technology company based in the Dallas area of Texas, founded in 2021. It develops software for freight forwarders that automates air freight rate quoting and booking by pulling from a forwarder's own rate sources.[1][2][3]
History
[edit]Aircon was founded in 2021 by Chris Condon and Irl Wakefield. Condon, the company's chief executive officer, previously worked at Expeditors International, where he led air forwarding at the company's Dallas branch.[1][3] Wakefield serves as vice president of operations, and Dennis Oleksyuk joined as chief technology officer in 2022.[4]
The company's early model used what it described as shared air freight gateways to consolidate cargo from small and mid-sized forwarders, with the aim of improving aircraft utilization and reducing costs.[1][2][3] Air Cargo World reported in 2022 that the Dallas-Fort Worth area would be the company's first gateway.[2] The platform later expanded into software for quoting, booking and managing exceptions for air freight shipments.[5] In a 2026 interview with The Loadstar, Condon described the product as a "decision layer" for forwarders at the point of commitment.[5]
Funding
[edit]In March 2022, the Journal of Commerce reported that Aircon had raised about US$1 million in early-stage funding.[1]
According to Dallas Innovates, citing Crunchbase and a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Form D filing, the company raised approximately US$4.58 million in June 2023.[4] In August 2023, Aircon announced a US$3.3 million seed round led by Underscore VC, with earlier backers including Plug and Play Tech Center and Schematic Ventures.[6][4][7]
In June 2025, the company announced a US$5 million seed round co-led by Blumberg Capital and Las Olas Venture Capital, which it said brought its total funding to about US$8 million.[8]
Platform
[edit]Aircon's software is aimed at freight forwarders. According to the company, the platform aggregates a forwarder's existing rate sources and automatically generates air freight quotes, replacing the manual process of contacting individual carriers and partners for each shipment.[7][5] The company says the software also supports booking and shipment monitoring, and Condon described the product in 2026 as a "decision layer" for forwarders at the point of commitment.[5]
