Adele Zaikman (born 30 September 2001) is an Israeli professional Latin and ballroom dancer and choreographer. She gained prominence as a contestant on the American spin-off television series Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro, where she won its inaugural season. She then joined the main competition series as a pro in 2026, becoming the program's first Israeli professional dancer.

Early life

[edit]

Adele Zaikman was born on 30 September 2001 in Rishon LeZion, Israel, to Ukrainian parents.[1] She started dancing when she was six years old and described her childhood as irregular, as she skipped attending traditional social events to focus on her training.[2] When she was thirteen, Zaikman was diagnosed with scoliosis and was required to wear a back brace for 20 hours a day for almost three years.[2]

Career

[edit]

2014–2026: Dancesport

[edit]

As a teenager, Zaikman represented Israel on the international dancesport circuit.[1] She specialised in Latin dance and was paired with Israeli professional dancer Matan Shtein in January 2014.[3] Together, they performed in competitions across Israel, Russia, Germany and Norway.[3] After their partnership ended in February 2015, Zaikman was paired with Portuguese professional dancer Miguel Fernandes six months later.[4] They won several Latin championships in Spain and Portugal, while performing in competitions across Austria, Latvia, Germany, France and Romania.[4]

Zaikman and Fernandes ended their partnership in September 2016.[4] About a year later, Zaikman paired with Israeli professional dancer David Caspi.[5] They won the 2017 Hradec Kralove Open in the Czech Republic and earned top placements in competitions in Israel and Russia.[5] They also performed in competitions in Italy and Cyprus.[5] After their partnership ended in May 2018, Zaikman paired with Georgian professional dancer Avtandili Shonia-Gutovski six months later.[6] They earned top placements at the 2018 Naples Open in the Open Amateur and Open U21 divisions, and placed within the top 40 at the 2018 Dutch Open.[6]

In January 2019, Zaikman and Shonia-Gutovski ended their partnership.[6] Zaikman paired with Russian professional dancer Nikolay Chernov two months later.[7] Together, they finished third in the Amateur Rising Star Latin Championships at the 2018 Blackpool Dance Festival, won the Amateur Rising Star Latin Championships at the 2019 Dutch Open, and won the Amateur Latin Cup at the 2019 World Dance Council Amateur League Open World Championships and Arthur Murray Cup in Dublin.[7] Their partnership ended in March 2020.[7]

From January to December 2022, Zaikman was partnered with Israeli professional dancer Yuriy Simachev.[8] They won the Professional Rising Star Latin Championships at the 2022 Blackpool Dance Festival, where they also earned top placements in each of the five professional Latin dance styles.[8] From March 2023 to September 2024, Zaikman was partnered with American professional dancer Nikita Brovko and performed in competitions across the United States and England.[9] Zaikman was partnered with Romanian professional dancer Cătălin Caucă in January 2025, and earned top placements in the professional Latin divisions at the 2025 and 2026 Blackpool Dance Festivals.[10]

2026–present: Dancing with the Stars

[edit]

On 22 April 2026, Zaikman was announced as a contestant on the inaugural season of the American reality competition television series Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro.[11] Throughout the season, she garnered critical praise for her "expensive" dancing style and earned the nickname "Rolls-Royce" from professional dancer Derek Hough.[12][13] Zaikman won the competition on 31 August 2026 and immediately joined the flagship series as a pro.[14] She is the first Israeli professional dancer to be featured on the series.[15]

Personal life

[edit]

Zaikman currently resides in Los Angeles, California.[1] She is fluent in three languages: Russian, Hebrew and English.[1] She dated her former dance partner Cătălin Caucă for one year; she referred to him as her "life partner" on The Next Pro.[16] On 30 September 2026, her twenty-fifth birthday, Zaikman confirmed that she was in a relationship with The Next Pro semi-finalist Allen Genkin.[17]
