Dr. Addis Ababa Othow (born June 11, 1974) is a South Sudanese economist and the Governor of the Bank of South Sudan as of September 2026.[1][2]
Dr. Othow was reappointed as the Governor of the South Sudan Central Bank for the second time, replacing Jonny Ohisa in July 2026 in a presidential decree by South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit. Dr. Othow previously served as the First Deputy Governor of the Central Bank in 2025 before his appointment to replace Johnny Ohisa in November 2025.[3]
Career
[edit]Dr. Othow started his banking career as a Banking Inspector with the Central Bank of Sudan in 1997 shortly after leaving the Al-Neelain University where he was retained as a lecturer.[4]
Dr. Addis Ababa previously worked as the Managing Director of Equity Bank. A Kenyan bank based in Juba, South Sudan. He served in the position since February 2015 prior to his appointment as the First Deputy Governor of the South Sudan Central Bank in February 2025.[5]
