Early releases by the band were influenced by black, death and doom metal.[2]
In 2014, the band released their first studio album Septentrionalis, through Gothoom Productions.[3][4][1]
In 2018, Achsar collaborated with Tuomas Rounakari of Korpiklaani on the single "Loud and Proud"[1]. The band also contributed to Korpiklaani's "beer beer" project (bonus disc of special tour edition of album Kulkija[5]). Milan Krištofík recorded a Slovak-language version of the song, released as "Pivo Pivo".[5][6][7]
In 2019, the band released the EP In Battle I Was Born. The EP featured guest vocals by Rob Lundgren on the track "The Last Warrior's Breath".[6][8]
In 2023, Achsar released their second full-length album, Legends.[6][9] The album features lyrical themes based on Slovak folklore, legends, and traditional folk tales.[2]
In 2025, the band followed with the EP Blood, Mead and Steel, which is characterized by a focus on the folk metal genre.[6][10]
