- Abdul Mathin** is an entrepreneur and real estate developer with business interests in commercial real estate, hospitality, aviation, logistics, energy, and private investments. He is the founder of Fortune Group, which later became part of BlackMINE Group, and currently serves as Chairman of BlackMINE Holdings, BlackMINE Capital, and BlackMINE Diamonds & Jewelry.
Mathin has been involved in a variety of real estate development and investment projects throughout the United States, with a particular focus on the Chicago metropolitan area and Central Florida. His business career has also included ventures in wholesale distribution, construction, technology education, publishing, and aviation.
- Early Life and Education
Born into a family originally from Chennai, India, Abdul Mathin spent most part of his youth in Hong Kong, where his father worked in the jewelry industry. Beginning at an early age, he learned the fundamentals of diamond grading and jewelry manufacturing while assisting in the family business.
He attended Royden House School and Mansfield College and High School before continuing his studies at Hong Kong Polytechnic with an emphasis on mathematics and science. He later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1986.
In 1988, he married Nuzhat in Mumbai, India, and the couple relocated to the Chicago area in 1989.
- Business Career
Mathin began his career in Hong Kong's jewelry manufacturing and export industry before establishing Alpha Consumer Products in the Chicago area. The wholesale distribution company supplied convenience stores and retailers throughout Chicago's northern suburbs. After selling the business in 1993, he entered the construction and real estate development industry through Globe Remodelers, Inc., completing residential remodeling, apartment renovations, and condominium conversion projects.
Recognizing the rapid growth of information technology during the 1990s, Mathin founded American Computer Corporation and later the American Academy of Computer Science. The academy trained students in computer technology and career development. He also launched *MicroBUZZ Technology Magazine*, a regional technology publication distributed to colleges and universities throughout Illinois.
In 2001, Mathin established Fortune Group to pursue larger real estate development opportunities. One of the company's notable developments was Skokie Gardens Condominiums in Skokie, Illinois, a mixed-use luxury condominium project.
Over the years, Mathin has pursued additional commercial and mixed-use developments in Illinois and Florida while expanding his investment activities into hospitality, energy, and aviation.
- iSquare Mall + Hotel
