Abdul Abdulmalik (born 21 April 2003) is an English professional footballer who plays as a left winger or attacking midfielder for National League club Boreham Wood.
A product of the Millwall academy, he was capped by England at under-17 level[2] and helped Millwall's under-21 side win back-to-back Professional Development League South titles in 2022–23 and 2023–24.[3] He spent the 2023–24 season on loan at Wealdstone in the National League, gaining his first taste of senior football,[3] before leaving Millwall to join Boreham Wood in July 2024.[4]
He played a key role in Boreham Wood's immediate return to the National League at the first attempt in 2024–25.[3] He was named the division's Player of the Month for October 2025[5] and enjoyed a breakthrough 2025–26 season, helping Boreham Wood win the National League Cup and reach the National League play-off final, where they were beaten by Rochdale on penalties at Wembley Stadium.[6][7][8] He was named in the National League Team of the Season[3] and won the Sportsbeat Young Player of the Year award at The Non-League Football Paper's National Game Awards.[6][9] In the 2026 close season, Boreham Wood rejected two bids from Swedish club Djurgårdens IF for the player, worth £750,000 and £1 million respectively.[10][11]
Of Nigerian descent, he is a cousin of Tino Anjorin[12].
Early and youth career
[edit]Abdulmalik joined Millwall's academy in 2016 after previously being on the books at Fulham.[13] He scored four goals in FA Youth Cup appearances for Millwall's under-18 side across the 2018–19 to 2020–21 seasons,[14] and was capped by England under-17s in February 2020, providing an assist on his debut.[2] He signed his first professional contract with Millwall in 2021,[14] and attracted transfer interest from clubs including Arsenal, Swansea City and Rangers as a teenager.[13][2]
Club career

[edit]Abdulmalik joined Wealdstone on loan in September 2023, making nine National League appearances before returning to Millwall in January 2024.[4]
Boreham Wood
[edit]Abdulmalik left Millwall to sign for Boreham Wood in July 2024.[3][4] He helped the club win immediate promotion back to the National League in his first season, 2024–25, making 35 appearances and scoring four goals in the league and promotion play-offs.[3]
Abdulmalik was named the National League's Player of the Month for October 2025,[5] having scored in wins over Yeovil Town and Eastleigh and earning two Team of the Week selections that month.[5] He went on to finish the 2025–26 season among the division's top performers, helping Boreham Wood win the National League Cup, beating West Ham United's under-21 side in the final, and reach the National League play-off final.[8] Abdulmalik scored and provided an assist in the play-off final, which Boreham Wood lost 2–2 (1–3 on penalties) to Rochdale at Wembley Stadium.[11][7] He was named in the National League Team of the Season and received the Sportsbeat Young Player of the Year award at The Non-League Football Paper's National Game Awards, held at Plough Lane on 20 May 2026.[3][6][9]
In the 2026 close season, Boreham Wood rejected an opening £750,000 bid from Swedish club Djurgårdens IF for Abdulmalik.[10][8] Djurgårdens returned with an improved £1 million offer, which was also turned down.[11] Should a fee of £1 million or more eventually be agreed, it would equal or surpass the National League's outright transfer-fee record, set by Jamie Vardy's 2012 move from Fleetwood Town to Leicester City.[8]
