The 739 series (739系) is an electric multiple unit (EMU) train type to be operated by Hokkaido Railway Company (JR Hokkaido) from the first half of 2027. Six 6-car sets are to be built.[1]

The 739 series is planned to replace the 721 series on Rapid Airport services.[2]

History

The first 739 series set was delivered from Hitachi's Kasado Works facility in Kudamatsu, Japan, in September 2026.[3]
