Collinsella is a genus of obligately anaerobic, Gram-positive, non-spore-forming and non-motile bacteria in the family Coriobacteriaceae. Cells are rod-shaped and may occur in chains.[2] Several species have been isolated from human feces.[3][4] The type species, C. aerofaciens, was formerly classified as Eubacterium aerofaciens.[3] The genus is named after the microbiologist Matthew D. Collins.[2] It contains nine species with validly published and correct names.[1]
Phylogeny
