Chaulieu (French pronunciation: [ʃoljø]) is a commune in the Manche department in Normandy in north-western France. It was created in 1973 by the merger of two former communes: Saint-Martin-de-Chaulieu and Saint-Sauveur-de-Chaulieu.[3]
Geography
[edit]The commune is made up of the following collection of villages and hamlets, Saint-Sauveur de Chaulieu, Chaulieu, La Rue, L'Insinière and La Françaisière.[4]
Chaulieu contains the source of the river Égrenne.[5] In addition the river Vire flows through the commune.[6]

[edit]- Belvédère de Chaulieu is a viewing tower built on the highest point, 368 m (1,207 ft 4 in), of the Manche department[7]
National Heritage sites
[edit]- Château de Chaulieu - a seventeenth Century chateau, which was listed as a Monument historique in 1973.[8]
