Background and early career

[edit]

Vidanes is the son of media executive Cory Vidanes and television director Bobet Vidanes. He joined Star Cinema in 2015 as a production intern before moving into other production and directing roles.[2]

In a 2021 interview, Vidanes said he wanted to establish a professional identity separate from his parents. Earlier in his career, he worked as a second assistant director on several Star Cinema films.[3]

Vidanes's early directing career was profiled by The Manila Times in 2021 in connection with his work on He's Into Her.[4] In a separate interview with Bandera, he said he had learned from director Cathy Garcia-Sampana and described directing as his calling.[5]

Career

[edit]

Vidanes directed the teen romantic comedy series He's Into Her, starring Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano. He returned to direct its second season in 2022.[6]

In 2024, Vidanes directed the youth series Zoomers.[7] He also directed the Philippine adaptation of the South Korean romantic comedy series What's Wrong with Secretary Kim, starring Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino.[8]

Vidanes made his feature-film directorial debut with the 2025 romantic comedy My Love Will Make You Disappear, starring Chiu and Avelino.[2]

In 2026, Vidanes co-directed the television series Someone, Someday with Dolly Dulu. The series stars Kathryn Bernardo, James Reid, and Maja Salvador.[9]
