Why no [[Category:Market analysts]] or [[Category:Technical analysts]]?

[edit]

The article Category lede states (as of 2010-12-25):

Do NOT put people who are involved in technical analysis here, see Wikipedia:Categorization of people for more information.

All well and good, but there does not seem to be a [[Category:Market analysts]] or [[Category:Technical analysts]], or [[Category:American market analysts]]/[[Category:American technical analysts]] (even though there are 222 kinds of American occupations in [[Category:American people by occupation]], including four types of folks who work with art). I imagine the same is true for folks of different nationalities. Seems as though some new categories may be in order.

Is anybody reading this savvy about the Wikipedia Category system? Would appreciate some help in finding categories in which to place market analysts, technical analysts, etc. N2e (talk) 16:42, 25 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Apparently no one with sufficient interest to respond is reading this, or no one with an answer to the question, or perhaps no one has read this at all. Failing to find an appropriate extant category makes me think it is time to revisit the wording in the category lede. See next setion. N2e (talk) 00:37, 18 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Proposal

[edit]

Given that no Wikipedia category seems to exist for persons who do (or used to do) Technical analysis (see previous section on this Talk page)—e.g., [[Category:Technical analysts]]—I propose a change to the Category meta-text. That text currently states (as of 2011-01-17):

Do NOT put people who are involved in technical analysis here, see Wikipedia:Categorization of people for more information.

in the Category lede. I propose that sentence be deleted. Cheers. N2e (talk) 00:47, 18 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • Support, as nom, support the removal of the restriction on the category containing technical analysts. If a Technical analyst is sufficiently notable to have an article in Wikipedia, then they should be able to be added to this category, until such time as a better category is created to contain the people separate from the non-people members of this class of WP articles.
