It seems to me that string metrics is not just about similarity or distance between 2 strings. String metrics also apply to a single string. Or is there some other name - provide a link. Compare with statistical measures which are commonly divided into 1-var (the average of some data) or 2-var (does this data increase when that data increases? ). If you have a tape measure you are not limited to measuring 2 shelves - you can measure just 1.

String metrics 1 should cover things like how long are words (is a string from a children's book or a scientific report?) Which accents are used (guess the language)? Measururing a single string. Or technical measures (is the string Ascii or Unicode?)

String metrics 2 should cover the similarity between 2 or more strings (the existing contents of the page). Where can we find the other metrics?  Preceding unsigned comment added by 148.252.133.98 (talk) 20:23, 13 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
