Sharrieff Muhammad, known professionally as Casper TNG, is a Canadian rapper. His name is a moniker for Casper The Neighbourhood Ghost.[1]
Early life
[edit]Casper TNG is from Toronto and grew up in Regent Park and Alexandra Park.[1]
Career
[edit]In 2015, at age 18, as an independent underground artist, Casper TNG released "Dope Boy", which is considered to be his breakthrough track.[2] In 2017, he released the single "Know Me". Both songs have amassed tens of millions of streams.[1] His 2021 single "Umbrellas" samples the Rihanna song "Umbrella".[2] In 2022 he released the singles "Hard in the Paint"[3] and "My Life".[4]
In 2023, he entered a new chapter of his career by signing a distribution partnership with Streameum Entertainment.[5] The deal marked the beginning of a long-term working relationship focused on expanding his catalog, increasing the reach of his music, and distribution of back catalogue across major streaming platforms.
In 2025, he released "The Market", featuring fellow Toronto rapper 100bandplan. The song peaked at number 61 on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100, was certified gold in Canada, and was "one of the year’s defining breakout records in Canadian hip-hop".[1][6] In March 2026, Casper TNG signed with Universal Music Canada.[1][6] Later that year, a remix of "The Market" featuring A Boogie Wit da Hoodie was released.[7] In 2026, he launched PuzzL Music Collective, a label in partnership with Universal Music Canada.[8]
Personal life

In 2017, Casper TNG was arrested and convicted on charges of firearms possession and drug trafficking, and given a two-year sentence.[10] In May 2018, he and three others, including his brother, were arrested after a police chase in Downtown Toronto before which those in the car allegedly fired a gun at traffic while driving on Parliament Street.[10][11] Casper TNG was given an 18-month sentence for the offense.[12]
While incarcerated, several of his previously recorded works were compiled and released, including the 2019 mixtapes Detention and No Cosign. His music continued to circulate during this period, notably through the 2020 collaborative single "Like Me," which featured his brother K Money.
Following his release from prison, Muhammad returned to the music industry as an independent artist. Between 2021 and 2022, he issued a series of standalone singles, including "Umbrellas" (2021)—which samples Rihanna's "Umbrella"—followed by "Hard in the Paint" and "My Life" in 2022. In 2023, he expanded his commercial operations by signing a distribution partnership with Streameum Entertainment to manage his back catalog and coordinate new digital releases. Under this arrangement, he released the full-length projects Before the Storm Hits 2 (2023), Until Further Notice (2023), and Ghost Town 4 (2023).
In 2025, Muhammad achieved a major commercial breakthrough with the single "The Market," featuring fellow Toronto artist 100bandplan. The track gained widespread viral traction and debuted on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100, where it eventually peaked at number 61.[13] "The Market" was subsequently certified gold by Music Canada, establishing itself as one of the year's most prominent breakout records in Canadian hip-hop.[14]
In March 2026, building on the success of the track, Casper TNG signed a major-label record contract with Universal Music Canada.[13] On May 1, 2026, a high-profile remix of "The Market" was released, featuring American rapper A Boogie Wit da Hoodie.[15] In June 2026, Muhammad formally launched his own record label imprint, PuzzL Music Collective, in a joint partnership with Universal Music Canada.[16] In interviews following his signing, Muhammad stated that his time in prison and the experience of becoming a father to his daughter had fundamentally changed his perspective, causing him to distance himself from his past lifestyle to focus entirely on his music career.[16]
