Burhan Muhammad (3 August 1957 – 19 May 2015) was an Indonesian diplomat. From 14 November 2012 until his death, he was the Ambassador to Pakistan. He was born in Yogyakarta.
Career
[edit source]Muhammad joined Indonesia's diplomatic service and held various positions within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 2007 to 2010, he served as Indonesia's ambassador to Cambodia.
On 14 November 2012, he was appointed Ambassador of Indonesia to Pakistan, succeeding Ishak Latuconsina. During his tenure, he represented Indonesia in bilateral relations with Pakistan and participated in official diplomatic engagements.
Death
[edit source]On 8 May 2015, Muhammad was seriously injured in the 2015 Pakistan Army Mil Mi-17 crash in Naltar Valley, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan while travelling with a diplomatic delegation. The crash also killed the ambassadors of Norway and the Philippines, while Muhammad sustained severe burn injuries.[1]
He was initially treated in Pakistan before being transferred to a hospital in Singapore, where he died from his injuries on 19 May 2015, aged 57.[2][3][4]
