Brassey Range is a prominent mountain range located in Sabah, Malaysia. It is located within the eastern part of the state, with Lahad Datu District being the highest part of the mountain range.[1][2] The mountain range is also home to the conservation area, the Danum Valley Conservation Area.[3]
Biodiversity
[edit]Like most mountain range, Brassey Range has a range of floral and faunal diversity.[4] The range provides a critical continuous habitat corridor for highly threatened Bornean mammals. It is a stronghold for the Bornean Orangutan, Bornean Pygmy Elephant, Clouded Leopard, Sun Bear, and the Sunda Pangolin.[5]
Geology
[edit]Brassey Range is made up of Green Rock Formations, which are mostly covered by jungle, but also uplifted sedimentary rock, alongside the Kuamut and Labang Formation. The highest part of the Brassey Range is Mount Danum, which peak at 1,093 metres (3,586 ft).[3]
