Beluj (Hungarian: Béld) is a village and municipality in the Banská Štiavnica District, in the Banská Bystrica Region of Slovakia.
Geography
[edit]The municipality lies at an altitude of 410 metres (1,350 ft)[2] and covers an area of 22.81 km2 (8.81 sq mi) (2025).[4]
History
[edit]In historical records, the village was first mentioned in 1232 (Bolug) when it belonged to the Hunt[verification needed] family, of Sitno Castle. In 1338 it passed to the Szechényi family, in the 16th century to the Koháry family, and later on to the Coburgs.
