Bejkovë (also known as Bejkova) is a village in the Qendër Ersekë administrative unit, part of Kolonjë Municipality, in Korçë County, Albania.[1][2]
History and administrative context
[edit]Bejkovë was formerly part of the Qendër Ersekë commune in the former Kolonjë District. Following Albania's 2014 administrative-territorial reform, the former commune became an administrative unit within Kolonjë Municipality.[3]
Geography
[edit]Bejkovë is situated near Ersekë, the administrative centre of Kolonjë Municipality. It is located in the southeastern part of Albania, within Korçë County.[1]
Cultural heritage
[edit]Bejkovë is associated with the Castle of Gradec (Kalaja e Gradecit). The National Institute of Cultural Heritage lists the site at Bejkovë as a Category I cultural monument.[4] Its protected status dates to a decision of the Ministry of Education and Culture of 5 November 1984.[4]
Academic literature published by the Academy of Sciences of Albania identifies Bejkova among the fortified hill settlements of the Kolonjë region, alongside sites including Gradec, Barmash and Guri i Ninës at Luaras.[5]
