Basanta Das is an Indian National Congress politician from Assam. He has been elected to the Assam Legislative Assembly representing the Mangaldoi constituency.^[1]^[2] He also served as a cabinet minister in the Third Tarun Gogoi Ministry (from 2011-2016), overseeing the following ministries:

On 5 March 2026, after having been suspended from the Congress, Das joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in time for the 2026 Assam Legislative Assembly election.^[3]
