Barium stannate (BSO)[4] is an oxide of barium and tin with the chemical formula BaSnO3. It is a wide band gap semiconductor with a perovskite crystal structure.[5][6][7] A trihydrate exists and is used in the production of ceramic insulation requiring dielectric properties.[1]
Preparation
[edit]Polycrystalline barium stannate can be prepared by a solid state reaction between barium carbonate and tin(IV) oxide.[8]
