Applied Optoelectronics Inc. is an American semiconductor company that focuses on optical devices. It was founded in 1997 at the University of Houston and is headquartered in Sugar Land, Texas.

History

In 2000, Applied Optoelectronics opened its headquarters and manufacturing facility in Sugar Land.[1]

The company launched on NASDAQ in 2013. On July 17, 2023, Microsoft signed a deal with the company to design and assemble products.[2] In 2025, Amazon signed an option deal to buy shares in exchange for purchasing the company's products.[3]
