Biography

[edit]

Gurov has been serving as a deputy governor of the Bulgarian National Bank since 2023.[5] From 2021 to 2023, he was a member of the National Assembly.[6] Prior to becoming Prime Minister, Gyurov worked as a Business Professor in the American University in Bulgaria.[7] On 11 February 2026, President Iliana Iotova nominated Gyurov as caretaker prime minister pending the 2026 Bulgarian parliamentary election.[8] He was formally appointed the next week.[9]

Before assuming office, he served as a Member of Parliament in the 47th,[4] 48th,[10] and 49th[11] National Assemblies, chairman of the parliamentary group[4] of We Continue the Change, and deputy governor[3][12] of the Bulgarian National Bank. In his political work, he emphasises transparency in governance, the modernisation of the economy, and improving the effectiveness of state institutions.
