Amateurs I (قسم الهواة الأول) is the fourth tier in the Moroccan football league system, positioned below Amateur National (3rd division) and above Amateurs II (5th division). It is administered by the National League of Amateur Football (LNFA).[1]
Format
[edit source]The competition comprises 32 clubs divided geographically into two groups of 16 teams:[2]
- North Group (مجموعة الشمال)
- South Group (مجموعة الجنوب)
Each group plays a double round-robin format consisting of 30 matchdays.
Promotion and Relegation
[edit source]- Promotion: The winners of each group (North and South) are promoted directly to the Amateur National (3rd tier).[3]
- Relegation: The bottom two teams from each group (4 teams total) are relegated to Amateurs II (5th tier).
History
[edit source]Prior to major structural reorganization by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) in 2015, the fourth tier was known as Rabita Football Amateur 2 and later as Groupement National de Football Amateurs 2 (GNFA 2).[4]
Following the creation of the single nationwide group for Amateur National ahead of the 2017–18 season, Amateurs I was formally designated as the fourth tier of Moroccan football.[5]
