Amanvari is a luxury resort managed by Aman Resorts and located within the Costa Palmas development in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, Mexico. It is Aman's first hotel in Mexico. The hotel's opening in 2026 was marked by controversy.
Name
[edit]The name Amanvari combines the Sanskrit words for "peace" and "water".[1]
Development
[edit]In 2018, Aman Hotels announced that a resort in Mexico was in the pipeline.[2] In 2025, the resort was named "Amanvari" and was scheduled to open in Spring 2026.[3] The hotel eventually opened on August 1, 2026.[4] The hotel is Aman's first property in Mexico and contains 18 rooms along with residences.[3] Upon inauguration, the resort soon became associated with elevated room rates.[5]
Booking cancellation incident
[edit]In August 2026, YouTuber Ryan Walker released a video alleging that Amanvari had denied him entry to the resort despite having a valid reservation as part of a pre-discussed review exercise. He further alleged that the resort called on law enforcement to prevent him from entering the resort.[6][7] The resort denied any wrongdoing and claimed that Walker was not authorised to be present in the property or that law enforcement was called on. It further called Walker's video "deceptively edited".[8] Walker later shared the confirmation number of the reservation he had made weeks ago as proof with CNN and stood by his claims.[9]
The claims by Walker and the resort were widely covered online. The resort refunded Walker for the stay and offered to pay for other expenses, which he denied.[8]
