Alexander Began Karmo (born October 12, 1989) is a Liberian former footballer. Currently living in Upplands Väsby, Sweden.

Implicated in human trafficking and profiting of young underage African players in 2015 while playing in Loas’s top league club Champassak United. Alex Karmo who calls himself “a manager for players from Africa”

All those who travelled to join the “IDSEA Champasak Asia African Football Academy” did so after being invited by former Liberia international Alex Karmo, who captained the club at the time.

According to the BBC investigation:

• Alex Karmo allegedly recruited young footballers, primarily from Liberia and other African countries, promising them opportunities to play professional football in Laos.
• Families and players reportedly paid substantial fees or incurred debts believing the players would secure legitimate football contracts.
• Once in Laos, many players allegedly found:
  • no genuine contracts,
  • poor living conditions,
  • little or no pay,
  • and limited ability to return home because they lacked money or control over their travel documents.
• Several players described feeling trapped and exploited rather than employed as professional athletes.

International career

The defender is also a member of the Liberia national football team.
