AfterShip is a software company that develops shipment tracking and post-purchase services for electronic commerce. Its technology consolidates tracking information from different postal services and private delivery companies.[1][2]

AfterShip applies its carrier-integration and shipment data technology through two principal product groups. Its commercial software as a service platform provides tracking, shipping, returns and post-purchase tools to merchants. Its consumer product, AfterShip Package Tracker, allows individual users to monitor personal deliveries through a website and mobile applications.[3][4]

The company was founded after winning the Startup Weekend Hong Kong 2011[8] and Global Startup Battle 2011.[9][10] As of 2024, it is headquartered in Singapore[11] with offices in Toronto, Austin, Columbus, Barcelona, London, Sydney, Shenzhen and New Delhi.

The company received $1 million series A investment from IDG Capital Partners (IDG-Accel) in May 2014.[12][13] AfterShip raised $66 million led by Tiger Global in April 2021.[14]

Software

The AfterShip API integrates with major e-commerce platforms like Shopify, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Bigcommerce, eBay and Magento.[15][16][17] In January 2014, AfterShip launched a package tracking API[18] that allows online retailers to get tracking information from different carriers via AfterShip as a single source.[19] Online retailers can use AfterShip API to display tracking details and information on the website and monitor carriers' delivery performance over time.[20]

AfterShip offers several customizable eCommerce solutions to support brands at each stage. AfterShip is most recognized for its automated shipment tracking,[21] supporting over 1,100+ shipping services worldwide, including UPS, FedEx and DHL.[15][22] Users can check the status of shipments across multiple carriers and automatically receive emails and notifications at different stages of shipment delivery.

Yashima Nobuyuki of ASCII Media Works praised the app for having useful features that rival apps lack but criticised it for having limited localisation for Japan, noting much of the text remains in English because the app was designed for English-speaking users.[21] Fast Company reviewer JR Raphael lauded the app for providing a straightforward solution for monitoring the progress of shipments and liked that it works across a broad range of major shipping carriers.[23]
