Adipolin is a protein that in humans is encoded by the C1QTNF12 gene.[5] It is predicted to be a hormone which suppress glucose production by liver cells.[5] It may also be an adipokine (meaning a hormone produced by fat cells), and may also function to increase the amount of glucose taken in by fat cells.[6]
