Acequinocyl is an acaricide used primarily against mites; it inhibits their mitochondrial electron transport. It is a chemical compound belonging to the class of carboxylic acid esters, specifically the 1,4-naphthoquinones.

Properties

[edit]

Acequinocyl is a yellow solid with a characteristic odor and is practically insoluble in water.[2]

Uses

[edit]

Acequinocyl is used as an acaricide in fruit cultivation.[2] It acts as an inhibitor of mitochondrial electron transport at Complex III and was approved in Germany in 2008.[3]

Approval

[edit]

An EU decision regarding the approval of acequinocyl as a plant protection active ingredient is still pending; however, member states may grant provisional approvals.[4]

In Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, plant protection products (such as Kanemite) containing this active ingredient are approved.[citation needed]
