Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests

If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request a technical move below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
- Please make sure you really need technical assistance before making a request here. In particular, if the target page is a redirect back to the source page that has only one revision, you can usually move the page normally.
- To list a technical request: the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
- To request a reversion of a recent undiscussed move: Review the guidelines at WP:RMUM of whether a reversion of an undiscussed move qualifies as uncontroversial and if so, the Requests to revert undiscussed moves subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page. Note that in some cases, clerks, such as administrators or page movers may determine that your request for a reversion does not pass the criteria and may move the request to the contested section or open a formal requested move discussion for potentially controversial moves on your behalf.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
- If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page. A bot will automatically remove contested requests after 72 hours of inactivity.
Technical requests
[edit]Uncontroversial technical requests
[edit]- Tel-Hai University of Kiryat Shmona in the Galilee → Tel-Hai University (currently a redirect back to Tel-Hai University of Kiryat Shmona in the Galilee) (move · discuss) – shorter name also used in sources. not sure if the long one is the official name. HerrHeulsuse (talk) 07:36, 4 August 2026 (UTC)
- @HerrHeulsuse which sources? CONFUSED SPIRIT(Thilio).Talk 19:44, 4 August 2026 (UTC)
- Hard out Here → Hard out Here (Lily Allen song) (move · discuss) – I think it's time to move the article since the Raye song also has one and both have a close difference in views (less than 100 views) GiankM. M (talk) 21:57, 5 August 2026 (UTC)
- The proposed title is a redlink and there is nothing preventing you from doing the move yourself. Be sure to update the incoming links. 162 etc. (talk) 23:35, 5 August 2026 (UTC)
- What about capitalization? Thanks! —1isall (talk | contribs) 23:59, 5 August 2026 (UTC)
- The lowercase "out" was the consensus at a 2014 RM. Note that the Raye song uses a capitalized "Out" and has no RM history. 162 etc. (talk) 02:21, 6 August 2026 (UTC)
- Got it. Thanks! —1isall (talk | contribs) 02:43, 6 August 2026 (UTC)

Robot clerk note: One or both pages in this request are either create-protected or move-protected. It has been moved from the Uncontroversial technical requests section. TenshiBot (talk) 00:00, 6 August 2026 (UTC)
- I have decreased the move protection. ~ Jenson (SilverLocust 💬) 01:48, 6 August 2026 (UTC)

Requests to revert undiscussed moves
[edit]- Somersham, Cambridgeshire → Somersham (currently a redirect instead to Somerton#See also) (move · discuss) – No discussion took place, it's clear that the settlement was the primary topic and now the original doesn't even redirect to something of the same name. Clearly controversial and needs to be reset so if necessary a discussion can take place. Thanks. 10mmsocket (talk) 20:39, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- I'm fine with reverting as an undiscussed move but note that it was moved back in 2008 with the reason "No DAB needed - Somersham in Suffolk is Lower Somersham" yet the village in Suffolk is just Somersham, Suffolk. Crouch, Swale (talk) 20:48, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- Create a separate DAB at the base title? Thanks! —1isall (talk | contribs) 22:52, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- There's another entry: a person with the surname. Thanks! —1isall (talk | contribs) 01:00, 4 August 2026 (UTC)

Contested technical requests
[edit]- Nevada State Assembly → Nevada Assembly (currently a redirect back to Nevada State Assembly) (move · discuss) – Per WP:CONCISE and consistency with similar articles. "State" is unnecessary/redundant and "Nevada Assembly" is the official, legal term. Additionally, the prior change was not justified as the terms "Nevada Assembly" and "Nevada State Assembly" are both used. This change is also consistent with the usage of "Nevada Legislature" rather than "Nevada State Legislature" QueenPeppers (talk) 20:38, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- The official name seems to be Nevada State Assembly, Sir Joseph (talk) 22:50, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- That's untrue. The Nevada Legislature uses "Nevada Assembly" and "Nevada State Assembly" interchangeably, and the state constitution defines the chambers as the Assembly and Senate, not the State Assembly and State Senate. QueenPeppers (talk) 23:04, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- @QueenPeppers Has been moved back and forth to this title in the past EdJohnston (talk) 23:35, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- I was going to agree with you, but it looks like the literal homepage they use uses "State": Amicicuriae (talk) 17:30, 4 August 2026 (UTC)

- Ile Oluji Okeigbo → Ile Oluji/Okeigbo (currently a redirect back to Ile Oluji Okeigbo) (move · discuss) – Request to move the current page to the latter name which acts as a redirect. The two towns are different, also the latter name is the officially used format. Jôhola 08:48, 4 August 2026 (UTC)
- @Josedimaria We generally do not use slashes in titles. Thanks! —1isall (talk | contribs) 12:47, 4 August 2026 (UTC)
- Sandbox (computer security) → Sandboxing (currently a redirect instead to Sandbox (disambiguation)) (move · discuss) – WP:NATDAB – Closed Limelike Curves (talk) 01:13, 4 August 2026 (UTC)
- See WP:GERUND where there may or may not be an issue with using the gerund "Sandboxing" as the article title. Regardless, see also Sandbox (software development) where no similar objection has ever been raised. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 12:41, 4 August 2026 (UTC)

- Draft:Modern pentathlon at the 2026 Asian Games → Modern pentathlon at the 2026 Asian Games (move · discuss) – Enough coverage. Qby (talk) 15:04, 5 August 2026 (UTC)
- Probably better to wait until the RfD concludes. Thanks! —1isall (talk | contribs) 15:54, 5 August 2026 (UTC)
