Description of suggested change: Under the corp/org decline, add a wikilink to "Listicle". It's a pretty obscure neologism (webster says the earliest mention was in '07)

  • What I think should be changed:
You should not use LLMs to write articles from scratch.

You should not use LLMs to generate article content.
    * Why it should be changed: WP:NEWLLM has been broadened to forbid all AI-generated content from articles, not just generation from scratch. The notice needs to be updated accordingly.

Description of suggested change:

Adds two new reject reasons (hoax pages and blp attack pages), per this discussion at AfC talk page.

nil nz 02:06, 3 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Are we also removing these as decline reasons? Might be a good idea to reduce duplication. –Novem Linguae (talk) 20:26, 3 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
I think keeping BLP as a decline is a good idea, as it covers submissions that don't quite border on attack pages, but shouldn't be accepted.
I know @ChrysGalley raised a point for keeping hoax/joke as a less-bitey decline for not obvious-vandals (like kids making drafts about their cat) but I'm sure there are other options (notability/test/custom decline messages) to cover those? nil nz 02:53, 4 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Done The question of whether to remove the decline reasons has not been resolved so I am not going to process that part just yet. Primefac (talk) 11:33, 4 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Probably just a minor tone thing, but the wording of the llm decline should be changed to reflect the newer guidelines.

llm = This draft appears to be generated by a [[large language model]] (such as ChatGPT). You [[Wikipedia:NEWLLM|should not use LLMs]] to generate article content.

Complaint about contents

[edit]

There was a discussion at WT:N about whether the comments in this template conflict with "policy". The discussion was recently closed, but I leave a note here in case anyone needs to find it later: Wikipedia talk:Notability#c-RememberOrwell-20260309115800-Misleading? Would have been nice if an AFC-related talk page had been informed a bit earlier so we could participate in the disucssion rather than just seeing the outcome of it. But better late than never. Thanks for the notification. –Novem Linguae (talk) 19:20, 29 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

In the "ai" decline reason, the first line should be changed to specify that any AI generated text is the problem, and to avoid implying that the entire draft is AI generated, as this may not always be the case.

My suggestion:

This draft appears to be generated by a large language model (such as ChatGPT). You cannot use LLMs to generate article content.

[edit]

Can we please revert the AI/LLM decline template back to before the recent systemwide upgrade/updates (keeping the language changes as appropriate to reflect the strengthening of guidelines)? Specifically the newer version seems more BITEy, and I also object to the removal of the note about AI hallucinations being "plausible sounding but false information"... in most cases AI doesn't just make random shit up out of nowhere or invent things out of thin air... it predicts what the expected solution or response should be, and while it frequently gets it wrong, it's usually at least vaguely close to reality when you look closely. Same thing goes for "non-existent references" – in the vast majority of cases I've experienced AIs don't completely invent actual fake sources... the specific references such as article titles, page numbers, URLs, etc. will often be incorrect but the underlying source does in fact exist in some capacity.

So basically this request is to revert the list of problems with AI writing in the associated template to the version as of Special:Diff/1330992472, but just the list, not any of the other text or wikilinks to anti-AI guidelines etc. Taking Out The Trash (talk) 00:26, 28 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Taking Out The Trash the new version was workshopped and supported by editors at AfC – it'd be best to start a conversation and get consensus at WT:AFC before reverting. In solidarity, nil nz 04:29, 28 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Parameters

[edit]

Could someone add explanations for the various template parameters? I'm attempting to add this to a draft that I messed up the initial creation for. The template on my other draft includes the "ts" parameter, which appears to maybe be a unique identifier, as well as the "demo" parameter which is blank. Is there a correct way to add this manually, without having to go through deletion and recreating via the Article Wizard? ChompyTheGogoat (talk) 06:20, 8 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

ts is for timestamp, which self-populates when the template is added. Removing and readding {{AfC submission}} to the top of your draft should fix it. In solidarity, nil nz 06:30, 8 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Oh, I thought that's what the ns parameter was. I left that in and removed ts when I copied it over, and it looks ok to me? Nothing has self-populated in the markup. ChompyTheGogoat (talk) 06:40, 8 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
ChompyTheGogoat, I'll see what makes sense with the doc, but just adding {{subst:submit}} will submit the draft with all parameters in place and {{subst:AfC draft}} will do the same with the "unsubmitted" box. Is that what you're looking for? (please do not ping on reply) Primefac (talk) 21:11, 11 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, thanks. I'd copied it over from the other draft that I created correctly, with parameter T for unsubmitted, but wasn't sure about the others that had auto populated on the original - ns=118 and demo (which is empty) as well as the above ts. I think it would still be helpful to fill out the table here so people can understand what function they all serve. ChompyTheGogoat (talk) 00:29, 12 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
It also still has a "last edited" showing with no ts parameter, just like the other draft that does have it. ChompyTheGogoat (talk) 00:37, 12 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
I figured out the ns parameter refers to WP:NAMESPACE. ChompyTheGogoat (talk) 07:33, 15 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

The section beginning "These tools are prone to specific issues that violate our policies" is misleading, as it implies that LLM-generated text which does not contain these issues may be acceptable. In any case it's unnecessary; we don't need to give people a screed on why LLM generated text is bad, the only part which is relevant to their article being declined is that it's not allowed. The current version leaves too much wiggle-room for wikilawyering, intentional or otherwise, especially by those users who get the chatbot to interpret the decline notice for them.

I raised this suggestion at WT:AFC a few days ago and have had one reply in support and no opposition. Athanelar (talk) 06:01, 1 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
