X (social network) was one of the Engineering and technology good articles, but it has been removed from the list. There are suggestions below for improving the article to meet the good article criteria. Once these issues have been addressed, the article can be renominated. Editors may also seek a reassessment of the decision if they believe there was a mistake.
The content of t.co was merged into X (social network). The former page's history now serves to provide attribution for that content in the latter page, and it must not be deleted as long as the latter page exists. For the discussion at that location, see its talk page.
Predictions of the end of Twitter was merged into this article. The discussion was closed on 24 July 2023 with a consensus to merge. The original page is now a redirect to this article. Its history now serves to provide attribution for the content in this article, and it must not be deleted as long as this article exists.
Text has been copied to or from this article; see the list below. The source pages now serve to provide attribution for the content in the destination pages and must not be deleted as long as the copies exist. For attribution and to access older versions of the copied text, please see the history links below.
I get your point - but due to the nature of algorithm-based platforms, it is non-trivial to present an image that is likely to actually be representative of the website's content to a significant proportion of prospective users.

Is there a consensus for how to refer to X/Twitter from other articles that link here? "Bob has amassed 5 million followers on X (formerly Twitter)". "Bob has amassed 5 million followers on X". "Bob has amassed 5 million followers on Twitter". Something else? B (talk) 12:56, 19 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
At this point, if we are talking a current metric, "X" is correct. There are probably unique cases where one should use Twitter if all associated activity was before the buyout, a good example would be Etika, a deceased influencer. Masem (t) 12:58, 19 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

The introduction states:
The platform has the lowest rate of enforcement against violations of law, and its policies after Musk fired Twitter-era employees, have faced criticism.
Lowest rate compared to what? All websites on the internet? All social media websites? All social media websites above a certain number of users? The sentence also doesn't have a citation so it's not even possible to try and figure out what this is referring to.

It's really shocking if not surprising that the history of the twitter recommender algorithm has been deleted from this page since the last time I looked at it. It is critically important particularly to social science research for people to know that there was no recommender until around 2014 (other than "trending topics", which is listed here) when the recommender was introduced, and what the rate of uptake was, and when it changed to being the default. Present X behaviour is not twitter. X cannot be used as twitter was to e.g. assist people during natural disasters. The information flow has just been changed.
