I'd like to propose the inclusion of New England Transit under the popular culture section of the MBTA page. New England Transit's game Boston Bus Simulator has covered by independent sources such as the Boston Globe, WHDH (Channel 7) Boston, CBS Boston, and Axios Boston. As of August, WHDH reported it had 510,000 unique plays. It's only 'MBTA simulation' game to be widely published. The "in popular culture" section currently does not include any entries newer than 1959, so this would provide a well-sourced and updated addition. Real Ill91 (talk) 19:05, 30 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
I'm not convinced it should be included at this point. It's generally not useful to list simulator games in popular culture sections. There's a lot of simulator games out there, many of which cover a number of systems, and it would be overkill to list all of them. (This isn't the only MBTA simulator out there, by the way - off the top of my head I know Train Sim has some MBTA routes.) There was a brief flurry of local coverage in August, but it remains to be seen whether there is sustained coverage. The other items currently in the section have sustained coverage.
My apologies, I should have addressed the conflict of interest earlier in this post (I am of course affiliated with New England Transit). I agree that a list of transport simulator games would not be helpful. Although, aside from Train Sim World's single Worcester Line DLC, Boston Bus Simulator is the only game to garner multiple independent sources (Train Sim only appears to be mentioned in MassLive). But, I agree with you on the need for sustained coverage. Simply being posted on the news a few times isn't a solid basis for inclusion. Let's see if there is more over time and maybe we can revisit this idea in the future? Thanks again for your help, I'm new to actually editing on Wikipedia and you've made me feel very welcome.
