COI edit request at Talk:Huagong Tech — factual corrections needed, sources available

Hello WikiProject China editors,

I have declared a conflict of interest and submitted a COI edit request at Talk:Huagong Tech seeking factual corrections to the infobox.

The specific issues: 1. The "Owner" field still lists SASAC, which has been factually incorrect since March 2021 following a corporate restructuring 2. "State-owned enterprise" classification is outdated — the company is now a mixed-ownership enterprise

Both changes are supported by:

• The company's 2025 Annual Report filed with SZSE

(Filing No. 2026-09)

• The 2025 Q3 Report on cninfo.com.cn

A third opinion was previously sought and two concerns were raised; I responded with additional sources on 20 May 2026. The request has had no reviewer response since December 2025.

Draft review of Foreign imperialism in China

Fellow editors! Today I present my effort to consolidate and organize the entire history of foreign imperialism in China starting in the 1840s into one article. This was motivated by my own frustrations when trying to educate myself on the topic via Wikipedia and realizing that everything seemed scattered across many different pages.

I tried my best to write following the best conventions, and each section should be readable in grammar and prose. I also suggest the following actions per WP:MERGECON, which states that:

Some topics that are independently notable are best covered in the same article in order to better serve reader understanding. For example, if a short article requires the background material or context from a broader article in order for readers to understand it.

• Merge Scramble for China into this article. This period is best understood in the broader context of what happened before and what happened after. I have already bolded the text "Scramble for China" in this article in anticipation.
• Convert Foreign concessions in China into a list article.
• Convert Treaty ports into a list article. I have absorbed all of the details that describe and discuss the Chinese treaty ports. The Korean and Japanese sections can be coverted to tables.
  • Merge List of Chinese treaty ports into Treaty ports.
• Shorten Unequal treaties#China.
• Shorten Century of humiliation. However, this is still distinct from foreign imperialism and not equivalent.
• Shorten New Imperialism#China. As of writing, this section's prose is 1,486, which is very long for a single section.
• Shorten Western imperialism in Asia#Western European and Russian intrusions into China.

Of course, I will be happy to perform all of these changes myself if given consensus. Wasting time is still my passion (talk) 21:11, 17 June 2026 (UTC)

Name of Yuhuan Guci

This is a Good Article from zh wiki, recently translated by my student. I am concerned about the name - neither Yuhuan Guci nor the other alt name in the lead,changci , trigger any hits in Google Scholar. Could someone take a look? Machine translation from zh just gives me more Englishy names such as "Yuhuan Drum Lyrics, also known as "Singing Lyrics,"". which do no better in GS... _{Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here} 03:49, 23 June 2026 (UTC)

I think it's obscure enough that there's not much English-language coverage. A search for "Wenzhou guci" finds some hits on Google Scholar, but I can't find any reliable English-language coverage of Yuhuan guci under that translation or any other.

Zhejiang Media Group

At Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests there is a request to change the title of Zhejiang Radio and Television Group to Zhejiang Media Group due to an apparent recent change to the company's name. This would be a "technical" move because the title Zhejiang Media Group is already used as a redirect elsewhere. Some assistance is needed because it appears that there was a different company called Zhejiang Media Group in the past, which is now known as Zhejiang Daily Press Group. If anyone here is willing to look into untranslated Chinese news sources, please advise on whether all these companies are connected, if the use of Zhejiang Media Group by two different companies is coincidental or not, and whether the original request is valid. The requested Page Move has now expired with no change, due to inaction from the person who requested it. Regardless, the volunteers in this project could consider updating the articles for Zhejiang Radio and Television Group and Zhejiang Daily Press Group, with a focus on who used the name "Zhejiang Media Group" and when, because the whole saga is pretty confusing in the current articles. Comma/varieties of English usage enquiry

I recently enquired about the usage of varieties of English in China-related articles and particularly the (inconsistent) use of the Oxford comma in that article (Pinyin). As I am yet to receive a response, I realised that this might be a better place to enquire than there, especially with regards the former issue.

Why do Chinese provinces have image galleries in their infoboxes?

I noticed that all the Provinces of China have a gallery of things and locations from that province in their infobox (Henan for example. This seems clunky and cluttered to me; looking around, most top-level administrative divisions of countries do not have images in their infobox beyond the local seal/flag (not applicable for the Chinese provinces ofc) and maps. See for example Alberta, Texas, Bavaria, Kamchatka Krai, Minas Gerais, Tasmania, West Java, Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, and Veneto.

I will admit this is not the case everywhere, especially in Africa and East Asia; Ethiopia (eg, Tigray Region, Japan (eg, Okinawa Prefecture), India (eg, West Bengal), South Korea (eg, South Chungcheong Province), and Mexico (eg, Yucatán) have either a gallery or one picture in the infoboxes for their top-level administrative divisions.

While this could go either way, I feel that the infoboxes become much more usable without the extra space taking up the screen. We can include plenty of images in the body of the article, without needing to cram them into the most visible spot at the expense of information. "Why do Chinese provinces have image galleries in their infoboxes?" - because someone, quite possibly the same person, or a couple, has added them. Some editors love to do this, and much prefer it to writing text, especially where they are not confident in their English. I bet you will rarely find any discussion on talk. That chapter is certainly in Vol 7. So I think the ISBN is wrong. The volume is available via WP:TWL:

• Full access available to users of The Wikipedia Library.

It's curious that the online version actually says in the front matter "First published 1998 Reprinted 1990,1997, 2004, 2007" which is clearly a mistake. I think it was originally published in 1988, which is borne out by this book review. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 07:10, 21 July 2026 (UTC)

Idea for a article titled “Potential Chinese invasion of Taiwan” based on the Chinese Wikipedia article “臺灣海峽戰爭”

LTA block evasion

I read a inactive discussion page about this topic in the talk page of Cross-strait relations, and there was a user that noted there was a Chinese Wikipedia article about this subject matter, and another user suggested the name “Potential Chinese invasion of Taiwan” rather than “Chinese invasion of Taiwan”. The Chinese Wikipedia article has 190 references, and i think that every reference in the Chinese article should be in the English article, because all the existing references in the Chinese article are valuable. Why does template:lang-zh handle superscript asterisks?

It has this code:
