Wikipedia:WikiProject The Beatles/Assessment

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Beatles WikiProject manages around 2,000 articles related to the Beatles, excepting redirects, categories, and others, with a broad and nested hierarchy of categories covering them. This section is an attempt to categorise some of the main ones as to quality level and address which ones need work the most.

Have a read of some of the existing classifications so you know what this about, and please do read the instructions before starting, as there are a few tweaks and other jobs we can do at the same time as classifying with minimal extra effort and good returns!

Assessment tables

  • As of the end of year; includes good/featured articles that were listed at the time but later delisted. May not account for all Beatles-related articles, as some may not have been grouped under the project yet. The modern good articles system only came about in 2006.

How to grade

[edit]

Should one wish to change an article's assessment or otherwise assess it for the first time, one may refer to these steps. Unassessed articles are gathered in Category:Unassessed The Beatles articles and Category:Unknown-importance The Beatles articles.

Place {{WikiProject The Beatles|class= |importance= }} on the talk page of an article that you think belongs in the project. * This template is used for article classification. See also: usage instructions. Do not subst it! For example, change {{WPBeatles}} to {{WPBeatles|class=B|importance=Low}} if you think it's a low importance B class article....

WikiProject iconThis Beatles-related article is within the scope of WikiProject The Beatles, which focuses on improving coverage of English rock band The Beatles and related topics on Wikipedia. Users who are willing to participate in the project should visit the project page, where they can join and see a list of open tasks.
MidThis article has been rated as Mid-importance on the project's importance scale.
To-do list:
For WikiProject The Beatles
  1. Apple Records discography – Needs British LPs and singles, and US LPs. Needs restructuring. I'd propose using the Brit catalog as the basis, and having only those releases which are different in the US section. This might not be practical, however, if the cat. no.s are different (they are for the singles, not sure for the albums).
Blue links need to be checked for and, if they aren't already, added to Category:Apple Records singles or Category:Apple Records albums, and the same for The Beatles/solo members singles/albums categories.
  2. Add specific fair use rationales to Beatles-related copyrighted images, especially singles covers (see Image:In My Life - The Beatles.jpg, for example).
  3. Improve all released Beatles songs and covers to C-class, at least.
  4. Take a photo of Kenwood.

This article does not yet have a related to do list. If you can think of any ways to improve the article, why not create one?
  • Once graded, the {{WPBeatles}} template needs to be included (not subst'd) on the Talk page with the correct parameters. (most articles will have it already, but with no parameters). In your edit summary, if you think the assessment may reasonably be challenged, explain why it deserves that assessment.
  • While you are there, check that the article is in at least one (and usually only one) Beatles category.
  • If the article is graded better than a stub but it has a stub template, remove the stub template(s) from the article.
  • If the article needs a photo, put a {{Image requested}} template onto the article's talk page and add the request to the to do list.
