Adding a new AfD discussion

Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:

1. Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
2. You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Middle East|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.

There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.

Removing a closed AfD discussion

Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.

Other types of discussions

You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Middle East. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.

This article appears to lack a policy basis for a standalone page under WP:GNG. As the lead section notes, official diplomatic relations between these two entities do not exist, and there is no record of official communication between them.

The article has remained a stub for over seven years, as the available material relies heavily on WP:SYNTH to connect different historical events. Statements and interactions involving leaders of factions reflect localized political alignments rather than bilateral relations between the two actual nations. These details are better suited for the articles of those specific organizations or individuals. The remaining content consists of flag design influences and routine wartime press statements, which struggle to meet WP:NOTNEWS.

Since there is no formal bilateral relationship to document, maintaining a separate article may be unjustified under WP:NOPAGE. Keep, I seriously doubt that the nominator did even a brief WP:BEFORE. Google Scholar shows extensive coverage. • Delete Echoing @Sakiv's point, the lede itself notes that official relations don't exist, which seems to be the key issue here. Other SADR-relations articles document recognition and diplomatic ties; this one doesn't have those events to work with.

I also considered two different merge targets (Foreign relations of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic and Foreign relations of Palestine), but those are also structured around documented, recognized relationships and neither has a section that could hold this current article's content (before even considering the WP:SYNTH issue).

On the sources mentioned above, I agree with @Sakiv's comment that these are comparative analyses rather than documentation of relations. This article requires evidence of a relationship, not just evidence that authors have compared the two. SupermarketCake (talk) 19:39, 2 August 2026 (UTC)
